Notes of the Mender

The record we write here is the only remaining record written directly by the first Lord Keeper, Sikan Burima.

A man of the south called me “old soldier” yesterday. For a moment, I did not know what he meant, but then I remembered the wrinkle of my hands, the ache of my bones. He was right, yet the words did not hurt. His clan is a warring tribe. Their warriors are lucky to last a few years in their ways. The man who called me this name could not have been more than twenty, yet already a veteran amongst his people. In his tongue, there is no greater compliment.

— Lord Keeper, Sikan “The Mending” Burima, circa OCY 2780-2790
